Prayer Touch Points

This “Prayer Touchpoint” is for husbands and wives to pray for their marriage personally. There are twenty  Prayer TouchPoint topics included here. Each TouchPoint includes a general topic for prayer, a scripture and a prayer.  They do not go in order and they are completely separate from each other, each one stands alone as a prayer guide point of faith.

 

1. Relentless Prayer

Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

Jesus told His disciples that they “ought always to pray and not lose heart (give up).” Luke 18:1 Heavenly Father, Teach me how to pray for (_____________). Help me not to be anxious about anything, but in every circumstance in all things teach me to thank You and continue to pray (Phil 4:6). Help me to stay alert in prayer and make it the priority of my life. I pray Your kingdom come, Your will be done in my marriage and my family on earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

2. Forgiveness

“And when you stand praying, forgive…. that your Father also Who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Mark 11:25 Lord, thank You for the power of forgiveness. Search my heart now and reveal every area that You want to address. I repent of my pride and disobedience and selfishness. I receive Your forgiveness according to 1 John 1:9. Thank you for cleansing me and clothing me in Your righteousness. I bring my precious (husband’s name_____________, wife’s Name_______________) before you now. I forgive him/her of all mistakes, hurtful words and actions, wrong decisions, selfishness and betrayal. I thank you for blessing him/her and guiding him/her on Your path. In obedience to You, I choose to forgive even if I feel my spouse has not fully repented. I obey you with great joy and thank you for the power of forgiveness. I forgive every person that has wronged me or hurt me in any way. I am free from all offense! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

3. Persistence in Praying

“Ask and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Matthew 7:7.

Father, thank You for helping us to build our marriage on the foundation of prayer. As we discover the blessing of “US”, Teach us how to have a “prayer saturated marriage” and to pray in agreement with Your will for our lives. I commit to a lifestyle of asking in simple faith. I want to seek after you with all my heart and soul. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

4. Love One Another

Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, it not puffed up does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things; endures all things. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Lord, thank You for Your steadfast, unchanging love for me and for my mate and family. I ask you to fill me with Your love by the power of the Holy Spirit. I pray that you would help me to put_________’s needs before my own, and You would enable me to be patient and kind and giving. Because of Your love in me, I am not selfish, rude or provoked easily. Help me not to be offended. I rejoice in the truth of Your promises, I can bear all things that come our way, I believe the best about __________. I yield to Your love that never fails and never gives up. I pray that Your love would be the foundation and center of our lives together. Teach me how to love________well. Love ________through me. 5. Words of Life

“Life and Death is in the power of the tongue…” Prov 18:20,21

“Let your words be seasoned with salt, giving grace to the hearer.” Ephesians 4:30

Father, help me to speak the right words. I’m sorry for words that I have spoken that have been contrary to Your will concerning _________and my family. I’m sorry for the words I have spoken that have been harmful, negative, damaging and selfish. I receive your forgiveness and pray that the power of any negative words would be canceled. I set a guard over my lips that I would not sin against you. Help me to only speak what You would have me say. Help me to build up, not tear down. I understand that life and death is in the power of my tongue. Help ________and I to speak the truth in love with each other. Help our words to be as apples of gold in settings of silver. Teach us how to speak words of love, encouragement, blessing and truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

6. Dynamic Prayer

“The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of righteous men and women makes tremendous power available (dynamic in its working)” James 5:16.

“Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.“ Matthew 18:19

Father, thank You for Your miraculous power made available through prayer. I yield all to you, especially my motives, and ask You to teach me how to pray well for my spouse/family and with my spouse and family. Help us not to neglect the privilege of prayer. Help me to be courageous in prayer. I pray for Your will and leading in our lives. Father, we want to have the power of prayer agreement in our marriage. Please teach us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

7. Wisdom and Understanding

“Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jer. 33:3

“If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5

Father, thank You for Your wisdom. I ask You for daily wisdom for ___________and I. I call upon You today and ask You to show me things beyond my experience, understanding and natural ability. I acknowledge that apart from You I can do nothing, but with You all things are possible. Lord, thank you for Proverbs 3:3,4. I trust in You with all my heart. I don’t lean on my own understanding. In all my ways I acknowledge You, and You direct my path. I cry out for Your wisdom today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

8. Agreement in Prayer

“Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which in heaven” (Matthew 18:19)

Father, thank You for the power of agreement. I pray that _________________and I will be in harmony with Your Word and with each other concerning our lives. Teach us how to pray in agreement with Your perfect will for our lives and for our family. I trust you Father, in everything, with childlike faith. I pray Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

9. Renewed Mind

“Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phil. 4:7

Father, I repent of wrong thinking and all thoughts that have not been of You. Help me to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. I don’t want to be conformed to this world’s way of thinking, but help me to be transformed by the renewing of my mind to Your Word. Lord, help__________and I to think on those things that honor You and are in agreement with Your will for our marriage, our family and our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

10. From Fear to Faith

“Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks.  Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6

Father, I trust you in all things. I pray Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven in our marriage and in our family. Teach me how to pray. Teach me how to have a continually thankful heart. Teach us to walk by faith, not by sight, so that fear would have no place in our home. Thank You for Your great love, Your power and Your wisdom. With child like faith, I will pray about all things and expectantly look to You for Your guidance, Your provision, Your peace and Your strength. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

11. Humility and Harmony

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21

But He gives greater grace…..”God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

Father, I humble myself and ask You to forgive me for my failures and shortcomings. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness and love. As You have forgiven me, I choose to forgive___________for all. Lord, help me not to be overcome by evil, or by anything __________does wrong, but overcome these things with good, for you oppose the proud, but you give grace to the humble. I know that apart from You that I can’t do anything, but with You all things are possible. Help us to live in harmony with each other. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

12. Joy and Thankfulness in our Marriage

“Ask and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.” John 16:24.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thes 5:16-1-8

Father, I pray today for my marriage and my family, asking that Your love would fill our home. I ask for Your wisdom, Your direction and leading and Your provision in all things. Thank you for Your joy in our relationship! I remember Who You are and all the ways You have blessed our lives and I am so thankful. Thank you so much for Your goodness and Your faithfulness. Teach me how to have a continual prayer relationship with You, rejoicing in all things. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

13. Trusting God for our Future

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your steps.” Proverbs 3: 3,4

Father, thank you for Your faithfulness! I pray for Your will for the days ahead. I trust in Your Word. I don’t understand everything, but I look to You, relying on Your steadfast love. I trust You in all my ways. I commit my marriage to You, my family to You and acknowledge You in all things. Thank You for Your promise to direct our steps. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

14. Love and Honor

Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

“Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband” Ephesians 5:33

Father, teach us how to love each other and how to honor and respect each other. I pray that our marriage would be reflection of Christ and the Church. Holy Spirit, guide us into all Truth and reveal areas that You want to help us move forward in. Help us to live in harmony and be a blessing to the other. Help us to outdo one another in showing honor. Help us to esteem and highly value the gift we are to each other, understanding that we are cherished by You and given to one another to further Your kingdom on this earth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

For wives: Father thank you for the precious gift of my husband . Help me to cherish and love______________. Teach me how to honor and esteem Him and respect Him as the head of our home. Teach me how to love him well. Help us to live in harmony and love and mutual respect, pleasing You in our relationship. I pray Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven in all things concerning __________and our marriage.

For husbands: Father thank you for the precious gift of my wife. Help me to love and cherish______________as Christ loves the Church and laid His life down for Her. Help me to dwell with her in understanding, and to esteem her. Help me to nurture her to her full expression of You, by my words and actions. Teach me how to love her well. Help us to live in harmony and love and mutual respect. I pray Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven in all things concerning _______________and our marriage.

15. Truth

Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

“I am the Light of the Word. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” John 8:12

Father, I pray that in our marriage we would walk in honestly and truth and light. Expose all deception, lying and those things that would keep us from freedom in You. I ask for Your light to flood our relationship. I pray that the light of Your Word would bring healing. I pray that truth would be the foundation of our marriage and home. I pursue the truth of Your Word. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

16. Not our will, but Yours be Done

Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

Prayer Touchpoint: Not our will, but Yours be done “And He went a little father, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying , O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but Your will be done.” Matthew 26:29

Father, thank You for the gift of Your love and life. Thank you for my precious husband/wife. I lay down my selfishness and ask for Your will in my life and in our marriage and family. I ask for Your leading and guidance into Your perfect will for our lives. Help me to lay down my life for my wife/ husband. I pray for Your will for our family, and ask You to guide me and direct me in Your plan. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

17. Teach us to Pray

Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

Prayer Touchpoint: Teach us to Pray.

“And it came to pass, that as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said unto Him, Lord, teach us to pray” Luke 11:1

Lord, thank You for prayer. Teach _____________and I how to pray. I pray that You would teach us how to pray individually and together as a lifestyle. Teach us how to live by faith, trusting You in all things. Help us not to rely on our own understanding, but pray about everything. Teach us about thanksgiving, praise, worship, confession, repentance, receiving forgiveness, releasing forgiveness, consecration, petition, supplication, and how to pray with all manner of prayer. Teach us how to pray together as one and to stand in prayer for our marriage and family, and for this world. Teach us how to pray for others. Teach us the lesson of Colossians 4:2, that we would continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

18. God’s Will

“When you pray say ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed by Your Name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’” Matthew 6:9,10

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Lord I pray Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven in our lives, in our marriage, in our family, in our community and nation, on earth as it is in heaven. I rejoice in Your Word. No matter what our present circumstance, I choose to give thanks and praise You, knowing that everything we can see with our natural eyes is subject to change. Teach us how to live a life of continual fellowship with You, as a branch to the vine, in a “praying without ceasing” relationship with you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

19. Strength

Colossians 4:2 says “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful

“Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen Your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord” Psalm 27:13,14

Lord, I ask for your strength today. We fix our gaze upon You and upon Your promises, rejoicing at Your truth. Thank You for Your Joy, which is my strength. Help me to keep an eternal perspective, and not be weighed down by the cares of this world and the trials of life. I rest in You, I trust in You. Give me courage for the days ahead. I will wait upon you, knowing that you will renew my strength so that I can walk and not grow weary, run and not faint. You will cause me to rise up with wings as eagles to be able to see with eyes of faith. Thank You for Your strength today. My strength is in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

20. Spiritual Weapon of Prayer

Prayer Touchpoint: Spiritual Weapon of Prayer.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Father, I thank you for the weapon of prayer. I thank you that I can pray in Jesus Name, the Name above all names. I thank you for the power of that Name. Thank you for the helmet of salvation, the belt of truth, the shield of faith, the shoes of the gospel of the preparation of peace, the breastplate of righteousness, these pieces of spiritual armor. I pray for Your protection around my marriage and family. I thank you for the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. Teach me how to pray according to Your Word with all manner of Prayer. Teach me how to walk by faith and how to wield the Sword of the Spirit with the authority You have given to me as Your child. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
